NOVA chat 8 is the newest member of the NOVA chat family. It offers the well known Chat software on an impressive 8″ Android platform. Like all “Chats”, NOVA chat 8 offers a durable yet sleek portable design with features that include a 8″(20cm) display, switch scanning and Social Chat. A variety of vocabulary configurations provides options for each individual that uses our “Chat” systems. NOVA chat includes thousands of SymbolStix™ symbols and PCS™ symbols.
NOVA chat 8 comes with Acapela voices (includes Aussie Adult Male and Aussie Adult Female and Aussie boy and girl voices) and Ivona voices (which includes a Male and Female Aussie Voice), as well as numerous American & British English adult options. Sound clarity of NOVA chat 8 out does that of any portable communication systems of it’s size.
Also included is a Kensington Sling bag to provide protection and portability for your NOVA chat device.
Features
Designed for individuals who will primarily be using symbols for communication, the NOVA Chat 8 has keyboard pages for spelling, and are “open” systems, meaning you can also run other Android applications on these devices. For individuals with existing or emerging literacy skills this model comes with 10,000, 30,000 and 60,000 word dictionaries.
Numerous keyboard pages with and without spelling prediction are included in the pre-stored vocabulary files.
The NOVA Chat 8 also includes abbreviation-expansion, a feature that allows you to encode a word, phrase or sentence under a short sequence of letters, and also provide the capability to load and save text files.
Dedicated Option – Dedicated devices are devices that can only be used as communication devices, i.e. no other applications can be run on the devices. Please specify this option at time of ordering if needed. If in the future after purchase you require the device to be changed from dedicated to non-dedicated or vice-versa, just contact us and we can organise this change for you at no cost.
Switch Scanning – As an alternative to directly selecting each button on the screen, NOVA chat offers single switch and two switch scanning.
